I've been on hiatus for the past two months. Wish I could tell you I was on a mediterranean cruise with a hot Greek god....OK, let's just imagine I was. Ahhhhh, the joy!
I was, specifically, away from my home and my cats for over a month. My neighbor took care of the little chitlins the whole time, God bless her.
When I returned, I was happy to see Chica had lost quite a bit of weight!
"Good for you, Chica! Did you try Weight Watchers? Maybe Jenny Craig? Or was it the running back & forth down the hallway that finally worked? No? None of those? Oh, you just went on a hunger strike for days on end. Don't you know that isn't the healthy way to lose weight???"
My poor neighbor. She was distraught over Chica's behavior, but let's face it, cats get depressed just like the rest of us...and what wasn't there to get depressed about? Her "mom" was gone! She should have been sobbing on the floor, writhing around in pain, flaggelating herself in misery! Instead, she simply stopped eating and sat like a statue every time my neighbor arrived.
Now that I'm home, you wonder, has anything changed? Yes. Chica's a food snob. Now she only wants to eat the good stuff-- which in her case means juicy soft food called Fancy Feast. Damn. I was always of the persuasion that "you'll eat what I give you and you'll like it!" I always figured they'll eat when they get hungry enough. Apparently, that is not true since I can feel Chica's 'shoulder' bones & spine when I haven't been able to feel either for years.
Since I've deprived them both of my presence for so long, I'm in a very generous mood. I'll buy the damn Fancy Feast for Chica....for now. My generous mood won't last forever.
On a side note....have you ever been to the Fancy Feast website? It's a bit disturbing. This is why "cat people" have a bad name.
