Horses should come with seatbelts.

My friend, Bruce, invited me to go horseback riding with him last night. I was thrilled to go. He told me I'd have the "calm" horse and he'd take the "crazy one". I got on Laredo, the calm one, while he stood there munching grass. That was a nice moment. I'll cherish that moment forever.

Laredo was all about following Star, the crazy one...a little too closely, I thought, but I figured horses know what they're doing. I certainly wouldn't walk close enough to another person to stick my nose up their butt, but maybe horses are different.

We walked out onto the gravel road and within the first 100 yards a 4 wheeler went flying by. Bruce's "crazy horse", Star, in the lead, backed up quickly which threw my calm horse for a loop. I thought for sure right then & there I was going on a wild ride...But it only lasted a couple of seconds and then he was fine. We had a nice walk down the gravel road and into the corn field.

As I said earlier, Laredo really liked walking closely behind Star. Star took a dump right in his face. See? That's what you get when you crowd someone. Lesson learned.

Buck, Bruce's happy-go-lucky dog was enjoying the walk as well....running willy nilly all over the place at break-neck speed. So fast in fact, that he spooked the crazy horse, Star, so badly that Star then spooked Laredo and guess what happened? Amy landed on the ground. Laredo started running, stopped and just bucked my little ass right off. I saw stars for the first time in my life. I really thought I might be dying. In fact, it's a miracle I didn't get trampled but thank God Bruce was quick & efficient with the horses and got them coralled. The dog, on the other hand, took the opportunity to lick me in the face.

Thanks, Buck.

Too bad someone didn't have a camera. Do you need any Ibuprofen?

I actually said to Bruce, "If you took a picture of that, I will hunt you down". And yes, I'm popping Advil like they're candy.
