"I'll quit coffee. It won't be easy drinking my Bailey's straight, but I'll get used to it. It'll still be the best part of waking up." ~Will and Grace

I miss coffee.  I miss the heavenly aroma. I miss cupping my hands around the mug-of-warmth.

I cut caffeine out of my life too long ago to remember when.  Without caffeine, my brain has stopped working and my memory is kaput. But I know I did it.  I've been drinking decaf coffee every morning since.  I don't notice a difference, except that I could fall asleep at any moment.  Seriously, though, it has helped with decreasing the amount of times I have severe stomach pain.  No caffeine, 3 vitamins a morning and plenty of nicotine. That's how I start my day.

I haven't had a single cup of any type of coffee in almost 2 weeks. With all of my problems lately, it seemed like the reasonable thing to do.  Just don't ask me to stop drinking Caf-Free Diet Pepsi.  That's asking for too much.  There'd be major problems. Like me ripping somebody's head off.  Not good for me. Definitely not good for the other person.

Why do I miss coffee, especially if it's decaf, you ask?  I'm cold. All the time. I have a space heater next to my desk that runs all day long. I have a wall heater in my office that I also turn on to take away the chill. Apparently, my little space heater isn't enough.  Since I've stopped drinking a pot of coffee every morning, I've turned to ice-cold water.  I can't drink water any other way. If it's even slightly tepid, forget it. I'm like the little girl in the movie "Signs" that has 30 glasses of water all over the house because "that one's got germs in it."  So drinking ice cold water and cold Diet Pepsi on a cold day literally makes my insides shake.  But what am I supposed to do? Become a tea drinker?  Blech!  Tea. What's the point? Might as well just drink a cup of hot water.  Double Blech!

I miss my decaf-coffee.
