Do you watch your local news in the morning? Or any time, for that matter?
I flip between our three local news stations every morning. As soon as I get out of bed, I grab a Caffeine-free Diet Pepsi, my trusty Marlboro Menthol Golds (can't say 'lights' anymore), curl up in my recliner, and turn on the t.v. to catch the weather. I could care less about "first birthdays" or "what's hot on the net". Give me news I care about.
Don't get me started on the lack of knowledge when it comes to our weather forecasters-- apparently the weather is hard to predict and you're allowed to get it wrong on a daily basis and still keep your job.
No, what this blog is about is another stupid thing they do.
It burns my butt when the video they're running doesn't coincide with the story. For example, today they were talking about "No politics at the Mission" for the story about our local mayoral recall and a group bussing homeless people to the polls to vote...and paying them. I could go on & on about this, but will refrain....The video for the story? Something about dogs. Unless the dogs were homeless and able to vote, I'm pretty sure they weren't supposed to be part of the story. Another example: Same story, only it had a different header, but they were still talking about bussing the homeless to the polls, yet they were showing a video of a gun show being held in Arizona. Interesting. Subliminal messaging, maybe?
Another thing that slays me....the grammar & spelling of the written news running at the bottom of my screen. How hard is it to spell "allegedly"? Allgedly too hard. Does your prompter not have spell-check? What grade did you complete in high school? Did you complete high school?
I'm wondering if they have a 2nd grader typing the words into the prompt and running the video segments. Probably not, because a 2nd grader would do a better job.

I've always wanted to be a weather person, the only job you can be almost completely wrong every day and still make a good paycheck. My motto would be something along the lines of "and that's your weather for today, unless its not." And I always love the part on the captioning when it stops for a second, backs up, and then starts again... cracks me up every single time.
I saw the "allgedly" mistake as well....drives me crazy when things are spelled wrong!!!
