“One can dream of something more terrible than a hell where one suffers; it's a hell where one would get bored.”-- Victor Hugo

I detest being bored. And I am bored right now.

Is there anything worse than boredom? How about knowing you have 6 more hours of boredom to look forward to? This is one of my version's of hell. I have several. Another is listening to my neighbor's radio or television through my wall or floor for hours on end. Don't even get me started on that version of hell. I lived through it yesterday. Another is having to endure a long lecture about nothing. Another is not being able to breathe through my nose. They go on & on. When I die, I'm sure I'll be bored, listening to my neighbors who are lecturing about some mundane thing and not breathing through my nose.

Whenever I think I'm bored or say I'm bored, I think of this quote by Ruth Burke, "Only boring people get bored". I don't want to be a boring person! I want to shake things up, be dynamic, be irresistible. I want to try new things. I want to excel at my job. I want to have good conversations, ones that make me think, ones that are interesting. I want to be active, in mind, in spirit, and in body.

Right now, I am none of those things.

So, folks, it's time to make that change.

And where do I start? I start with action...specifically action for my body. Because once those endorphins get released, the mind & spirit will follow. I've been hibernating for too long this winter. It's time to start working out again. No matter how cold it is or how much snow is on the ground. That's the first step.

The second step is to find my passion where I'm at. If you can achieve that, you can achieve just about anything. Because is there anything worse than not feeling passionate about what you're doing on a day-to-day basis? Sure there is. See my version's of hell above. And people do it every day. Not everybody with a job is passionate about what they're doing. It's a job. It pays the bills. It's a necessity. But I think the person who plods through their day, accomplishing what tasks need to be done, but is un-passionate about what they're doing is in a rut. And that rut is bad, people, B.A.D. At least it is for me. So that's my second step.

If I can accomplish those two things, I believe I'll be relieved of my boredom. Simple, isn't it?
