"As I was walking up the stair, I met a man who wasn't there, he wasn't there again today, I wish I wish he'd go away." - Hugh Mearns

I think my church is haunted.

I get to work pretty early-- usually before 7. I'm definitely a morning person. Don't hold it against me. It's pretty darn quiet here at 7 in the morning, which is why I like it. I can get a lot done in the two hours before anybody else shows up.

I'm starting to rethink that.

I blogged about an incident months ago. Whistling and no whistler to be found. I searched high & low and never found a soul...living, that is. I decided I was either crazy (redrum, redrum), or we have a ghost.

Now I'm sure we have a ghost.

The first thing I do when I get to work is make the coffee. It's as simple as can be. Filter in the cup. Coffee in the filter. Flip the switch on. Pour water in the maker. Then I head to my office to check email.

This morning, after checking my email, I grabbed my mug to get a nice hot cup of joe. I noticed the people who were here last night left lights on in the basement so before filling my cup, I went downstairs to turn them off. The door was locked, which I was pleased to note. Usually, that's what people forget to do. That would have made what happened next much more frightening.

I went back to the kitchen to fill my cup and the coffee maker was turned off. Turned. Off. I checked the pot to make sure I had actually turned on the maker. Pot was full to the brim & scorching hot. But the maker was off. Someone had to turn it off. Or something. It doesn't just turn off on its own. Never, ever.

And nobody else was here.....that I could see.
