“The only two things we do with greater frequency in middle age is urinate and attend funerals.” - Maxine

What makes you feel like an adult?

There have been other moments in my life when I've finally thought, "Aha! I'm an adult!"  Like getting a "real" job.  Like moving out on my own. Like supporting myself. Like keeping alive 2 cats.  If that's not adult, I don't know what it is.

But buying myself a new bed skirt cinched the deal for me.

Yes, I said bed skirt.

My mother got me a queen sized bed skirt (for my full size bed) years ago. Years and years ago.  Years.  It was old, dirty (you just can't get white clean after cats have shed all over it for 8 years), and didn't fit my full size bed.  It was time. I could suck it up and buy my own bed skirt.

Why did I hesitate?

I'm not sure, except that it felt TOO adult.  Like buying a bed skirt tied me into a label. Adult.  No longer fun. No longer frivolous.

Seriously? A Bed Skirt?

Yes, a bed skirt.

But, I did it.  I bought one. And it looks great.

So, what was your moment of "Aha! I'm finally an adult!"?
