"So I feel better being a little paranoid."-- Tim Hatcher

My friend, Tim, got me thinking the other day about my neighbors and how little I know of them. Are they murderers? Is that the smell I've been having to endure??? Are they channeling Hannibal Lecter? Have they been arrested for burglary? Will I come home one day and find the place empty except Chica & Elvis 'cause nobody in their right mind would take them? Do I get to look forward to being sexually assaulted? Or am I too old for them?

Who are these people?

So I did some internet sleuthing and looked through the Iowa Sex Offender Registry website. I would suggest NOT doing this. I realized, while perusing the 68 names in CB, "I don't really want to know". The old saying, "Ignorance is bliss" holds true for me. I'd rather not be anxious every time I'm running at 5:00a.m. alone, wondering if sex offender #62 is going to walk out of his house to get the paper, see me running past, and think, "ahhh, my next victim". If I dwell on this too much, I won't be able to leave my apartment-- or I'll have to move to a secluded farmhouse with no neighbors and massive security....which is what I want anyway, so maybe I should continue down this road.

What about you? Do you want to know? I'm still curious about my neighbors....not enough so that I'll actually go speak to them, and not enough so that I'll keep internet sleuthing. I'll just make things up in my head to go along with what I think about them. I beat up old ladies anyway, so they should be scared of me...not the other way around.

I'm with you here. I looked at the site once and found some I knew and wished I didn't. And some they said were who I knew there was more to it than most people knew. So I don't go there anymore.

As far as your smelly neighbors, well that's another thing. Read James. Something about doing more with our lives than just believe there is a God. So, yes, maybe you should talk to your neighbors. Or not.
