What is it about Harry Potter that I love so much?
I have all of the books, have read them numerous times....and I have all of the movies now out on DVD....and have watched them numerous times. I'm rewatching each of them today in succession. Lofty goal, eh?
The books are well-written, the movies well done. And I have an affinity for "family" movies. Don't ask me why...I haven't delved deep into my psyche to figure it out. They just entertain me. Maybe it's as simple as I'm still juvenile. huh.
Remember all the hub-bub from the radical Christians when Potter first came out? They were worried children would suddenly turn to witchcraft and wizardry. Duh. Anything that makes children read in this day & age is a good thing, regardless of what they're reading. Well, unless it's hate. That's bad.
Speaking of hate, I saw a news story on the Today show. A cat had been shot in the head with an arrow. The arrow went through fur, skin, subcutaneous tissue, but not the skull. The cat was literally walking around, o.k., with an arrow through its head. Somebody shot it with an arrow. Not accidentally. Anybody- child, teenager, adult- who would purposely injure an animal is only a 1/2 step from abusing a human. It makes me ill and whoever did it should be locked up for life....or mark my words, they'll be attacking humans next...and they won't stop.
And speaking of cats, Chica is pulling clumps of fur out from her back. She's got a bald spot. Maybe she knows I have a thing for bald men, so she's trying to emulate them. I've bought 3 kinds of sprays-- Cool spray, Wound Spray and "dry" shampoo. I don't think any of them are helping and I can't figure out why she's started doing it. I've doused her with flea spray, I've put de-wormer in her water (which they both rejected), just to be on the safe side. I don't "see" any bugs and there isn't a "ring-worm-type" spot on her. She's gone mental. Could be stress. What the heck she has to be stressed about, I don't know. For now, I'm just going to let her be and if it gets worse, I'll be schlepping her to the vet. Fun times to look forward to.
I don't know how I got from Harry Potter to Chica, but magically, I did. Back to the movie...

Dude I looooooooooove Harry Potter and I think it's so sad that Churches choose to believe rumor and spread fear and dislike over a book. If you want to raise an independent, intelligent child, could you not allow them to read a book and form their own opinion? What in those books is wrong? They even celebrate Christmas for crying in the night!
The most I could ever want for Trinity is to form her own opinion and not listen to the jargon and discontent and fear spread by someone else. I hate it when Christians judge (um, they aren't supposed to judge) something without reading it or getting all the information. That action makes Christians look stupid. Way to go, idiots. You cannot expect to bring more people to Christ through fear while spouting uninformed rhetoric. Bring people to Christ by telling them about His love and non-judgement. That's what would convince me, not by telling me my books were written by a devil worshipper. Puh-lease!
