"Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit; wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad."

December 10 – Wisdom. What was the wisest decision you made this year, and how did it play out? (Author: Susannah Conway)

Wowza. This is a tough one.  Have I made any wise decisions this year?

One.

I purchased a nose-hair trimmer.

It's a handy little multi-purpose tool.  Not only can it trim my nose hairs, but it can trim my peach-fuzzed-upper-lip and my chin hairs, too!  It keeps my face hair-free, for the most part.  Men, I'm sure you don't like to hear about your ladies having facial hair, but it would be unusual for a woman not to.  Just be happy we care enough to remove it and that we have these handy little tools, as well as waxing, Nair, and plucking to keep us hair free.

I think another wise decision I've made this year is trying harder to keep my mouth shut.  I've learned a valuable lesson. Even though people say they want to hear your opinion, unless it agrees with theirs, they don't.  It's a lie they tell themselves. They want to seem "of the people", "cool", "open".  And when you do share your opinion and it doesn't agree with theirs, it's you who has the problem (not really, but that's what they think...and you let them think that because they'll see the truth eventually).  I've learned if I don't truly care about something, even if I disagree with it and it's the hardest thing I'll have to do, I'm keeping my mouth shut.  Because it doesn't do me any good to speak up.

I've also learned, the hard way, it isn't a good thing to be vulnerable in front of people who don't truly care about you.  I made the mistake of "letting people in" when I first started working here.  The pastor & I did a video about having bipolar disorder/depression.  I've found now, any time I'm sick, people think it's because of that. Little do they know, I haven't had any symptoms, been on any medication, or been in therapy for over 4 1/2 years. What does one thing have to do with the other? Can't I just be physically ill without it having to do with a mental illness?  Will. Never. Share. That. Information. With. People. Again.  Unless it's you people reading this blog.  Once you're labeled, it's really hard to remove it.  Too sticky.

I guess I have made more than one decision this year.  Whether or not any of them are wise, remains to be seen.  The nose hair trimmer, undoubtedly, was the wisest of them all
