Needing someone is like needing a parachute. If he isn’t there the first time, chances are you won’t be needing him again.

December 11 Prompt: Things

What are 11 things your life doesn't need in 2011? How will you go about eliminating them? How will getting rid of these 11 things change your life?

1. Negativity: I don't need people in my life who bring me down (those damn debbie downers). I don't need people telling me what I can't do. I don't need people telling me "you won't do that".  I need to surround myself with supportive people.
2. Bad attitudes: My own & others. Enough already!
3. Mean people: Tell me honestly, who needs mean people in their life?  I'd like to meet that person because they must really, truly hate themselves. I think I hate myself, but I don't want to hear from another person how awful I am. I do enough of that myself.  So this also includes myself & others. Mean people suck.
4. Frustration: I'm tired of feeling frustrated.  It's a daily, almost minute-by-minute occurence.
5. Worry: Oh, to not have to worry about my personal financial security! The relief I would feel.  I realize having money doesn't solve all problems, but it sure would make life easier!
6. Non-essential 'stuff': I've already started purging....non-essentials...not food.  Good Lord, I would never purge food intentionally!  I love food too much.  How much crap does one person need? I live in a 1 bedroom apartment, and I look around at all my stuff and think, "Holy crap, I'm never moving".  It's too much.  How many purses does a woman need? Apparently 20.  Really? I think some of those could go. I use 3.
7. Cat hair: I'm pretty sure Chica & Elvis would balk at being furless, so I just have to suffer through this one. I've found a lint brush isn't good enough.  Packing tape works wonders.
8. The same: I've bitched about this before...I'm tired of the same...things need to be shaken up.
9. Gossip: It's just plain hurtful. Talk to the actual person you're gossiping about. It'll open your eyes. Though, I know, gossip can be soooooo entertaining and it's a bit of release....to vent about someone who is seriously pissing you off.  Feels a little bit good.
10. Dullness-stagnation: This kind of falls under "the same", but maybe not.
11. Time wasters: Am I a productive human? I am at work, but outside of that, I should be "released".  I spend too much time vegging in front of the t.v. or relaxing reading books or playing Family Feud or Bejeweled Blitz. Time wasters.  What if I spent that time doing something productive? Making something. Volunteering. Spending time with others. Might change the world. :)

It's so much easier to think of the things that I do need! But maybe that's an upcoming prompt, so I don't want to blog about those yet. Maybe another time.

How do I go about eliminating these things & what would getting rid of these things mean for my life? This question is almost too huge.  Most of the items are things I have to change internally....in my own brain...which means changing how I think, how I behave, who I am.  Not an easy change to make, but it can happen over a period of time.  Maybe 2011 is that period of time...365 days might be enough.

Getting rid of these things would certainly mean a more contented life. A calmer me. A more 'fun' me.  I don't know how that's possible...I'm pretty fun already.
