"The secret to leading a tranquil life is to ignore petty annoyances & save your anger for really serious matters. Like if somebody looks at you funny." -Maxine

Reverb 10 Challenge- December 5th:

Let Go. What (or whom) did you let go of this year? Why? (Author: Alice Bradley)

This one's a little bit easier to answer than yesterday's prompt. I let go of expectation this year.  I let go of the expectation that this or that person will treat me differently, that our relationship will be different, that I'll have some sense of interest on his/her part in my life.  I've realized, it's just never going to happen.  This or that person is who they are, how they are.  I can only change myself. I can only change my reaction. I can only change how I feel.  Once I gave up expectation, my whole outlook changed.  I would always be disappointed after spending time with this or that person, but now? Now it's o.k.  Because I have no expectation of anything different.  You get what you get and don't throw a fit.

To me, this is one of the great truth's in life.  If you can accept a situation and know that you are the one in control of your own emotions, your own reaction, I believe, you've matured-- you've grown.

My God, how did this happen?
