"There's never enough time to do all the nothing you want." ~Bill Watterson, Calvin and Hobbes

Day two of the Reverb 10 challenge. Today's prompt: Writing.

What do you do each day that doesn’t contribute to your writing — and can you eliminate it? (Author: Leo Babauta)

My first thought is....work.  Work does not contribute to my writing.  I'm definitely not creatively challenged at work. When I get the opportunity to create an ad for the local newspaper or something for us to use in-house, I love it.  I do get to write most of the blurbs for the weekly enews, but trust me, that takes very little creativity.  Not that I'm a creative person, by any means. But I do enjoy the opportunity.  Can I eliminate what doesn't contribute to my writing? Nope. I need an income to survive.  I don't see my "writing", if that's even what you can call it, earning me enough money to survive.  Shoot, I barely make enough money as it is, and I have a good job! I went Christmas shopping today and had to buy all my gifts at Walmart because that's the only credit card I own (thank goodness for that).  Nobody would get anything from me at Christmastime if I had to spend cash.  Sorry, cash is for food, gas, rent, utilities...the essentials.  And now, apparently, for Walmart, too.

Another thing that probably doesn't contribute to my writing....television. My goodness, I love my t.v.!  I think I might marry it.  I don't know what I'd do without television and all the stupid, hilarious shows out there. I'm a self-proclaimed t.v. junkie.  Even when I'm napping, reading, knitting, cleaning, going to sleep, whatever, the t.v. is on.  It's my companion in life.  If it ever goes away, I'll be crushed. Hopefully, that will only happen if it's the end of the world...and if it's the end of the world, I'm pretty sure I could leave my t.v. Do you think there's t.v. in Heaven?  I bet there is in Hell.  I think we both know where I'll be going.
