I'm watching "Unfaithful: Sories of Betrayal" on TLC. I'm not sure this is a good show to show at the end of a year, but there it is. I'm sure they're getting good ratings. It sickens me. This show epitomizes the reason I will never get married. There's a deeper meaning here...the meaning is, I don't trust people. I don't. I realize that. I probably never will until somebody does an intervention on me. Can you imagine that? It'd be part hilariousness and part sadness. Because I am who I am. I'm not going to change. This mistrust is inherent. It's built in. It would take a lot of years to rebuild it.
My God, this show is showing all of the adultery, mistrust and selfishness that has happened. One woman even had an affair, got pregnant, didn't know who the father was, and didn't tell her husband until the pregnancy was revealed!?! Geezy lou. Really? Are you freaking kidding me? I'm a selfish person but in no way, shape or form would I do that to someone I supposedly loved. And if that ever happened to me? Forgiveness? I don't think so? You've got to be kidding me...Once a cheater, always a cheater. There's no way to rebuild that.
I know what it's like to be cheated on. I know the hurt and the pain. I don't ever want to do that to another person whom I claim to love. How could I?
Communication, people. For pity's sake, TALK to them before it gets to the point of divorce!
When did divorce become so blase? When did divorce become so common? Whatever happened to the commitments? Are God and the church so obsolete that those commitments don't mean anything? Yes, yes, I think that has happened. Church is not as important in our society as it used to be. When stores are open on the Sunday after Christmas at 6:00a.m. that tells you a whole lotta something.
I realize, after working in the church, that there are times when divorce is o.k. When the other person has left the building, so to speak; when the other person won't try; when the other person has given up; when the other person has left the marriage. Then, and only then, is it o.k. to divorce, in my mind. Otherwise, if they're willing to try, if they're willing to change, YOU are also willing to try and YOU are also willing to change. It sickens me and disheatens me that we live in a society where over 50% of marriages end in divorce. What's the freaking point??????
We're all going to be single pretty soon and then my pool of men will open up.....granted, they'll all have 2.5 children and baggage, but at least I'll get a date.
